The Legend Series – Part 4

In our My Journey series we visited many faces with our Poultry / Livestock Industry legends.  This time Mr. O.P. Singh (MD-ABTL) takes us to his journey.

  1. Are you originally from Pune?

Pune has been my karma bhoomi (land of action). Since 2000, Pune has presented me with immense opportunities and satisfaction in terms of work. I belong to a humble family from Uttar Pradesh and have moved to various locations in and out of the country but Pune made me stay and flourish.

2. What is the best thing you like in your journey?

The industry has always thrown challenges and opportunities to test my mettle throughout the last few decades. I have had my own share of struggles and friction that molded in me in who I am today. There were challenges to be addressed and difficulties to overcome. The journey in itself is full of ups and downs and I would rather contribute to the whole experience so far as the best thing rather than a single incidence.

3. What is your right motivation in the journey from the beginning?

Creativity to find unique solutions, energy to drive and execute those solutions and technology that helps in executing the solution on field  intrigues  me. The curiosity generated from the process above helps me find the right motivation every time.

4. Why you choose the Poultry/Livestock profession?

This is interesting question. In actuality it was the industry that chose me in many ways. If India has to feed its future generations and fulfill protein requirement, the potential to meet the protein sufficiency lies only with the value added agriculture sector which is livestock and poultry. I realized this early on and decided to contribute to the best of my capacity and the same idea still keeps me going and serves as motivation.

5. As compared to other big players in the industry, how is your organization different?

At our organization, we are competing only with ourselves. We are striving to become the better version of ourselves with every passing day. We are upgrading our technology, our processes, and our style of work and delivery to match the needs of contemporary times in order to be the organization that holds every solution in the arsenal to become the leading one stop solution destination for the peers in the industry. We would always strive to make all technological advancements relevant to all our stakeholders. Fulfilling their ambitions in achieving added value through our technology and services will be a differentiator.

6. Please tell us about your family.

We remain nucleus family in existence but internal support is to the extent that mutual progress is final object.

Success is never an overnight achievement; it is culmination of the hard work and smart work over a considerable period of time. Everything meaningful in life is almost as a result of compounding and that must be etched at the back of the mind at all times. The next generation is smarter than the previous generation, that’s how evolution works. Applying this inherent smartness and access to information available in today’s digital day and age to your advantage is going to make all the difference for the next generation.

9. What are your favorite eatery foods?

Not being a foodie gives me energy and flexibility to relate with every section of social perspective.

10. What are your hobbies?

If and when I find leisure time, I like to read. I read extensively about technology, about science, about application of sciences and about different businesses. Although I feel relaxed with sports in field.
