Poultry experts discuss nutritional interventions to support healthier, more productive birds
Committed to empowering the industry through intelligent nutrition, NOVUS recently held a special seminar to tackle gut health challenges in poultry and the role of intelligent nutrition in driving healthier outcomes for poultry integrators, feed millers, consultants and key opinion leaders in north India.
Dr. Nitin Vasantrao Kurkure, director of research at Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, addressed Coccidiosis, necrotic enteritis, andE. coli and predisposing factors of those challenges. He also discussed the use of nutritional interventions like organic acids, essential oils, and a highly bioavailable source of organic copper and other minerals to improve overall health.
Dr. Koushik De, NOVUS poultry sales director for South Central Asia (SCA), spoke about adopting strategies like reduced inorganic copper inclusion to overcome gut health challenges, and leveraging highly bioavailable MINTREX® Cu Bis-Chelated Trace Minerals. Through these practices and others, producers can improve gut health through nutrition, which can lead to better performance and productivity, reduced mortality, and enhanced bird welfare, as well as contribute to improved ROI.
“Participants expressed keen interest in nutritional strategies that help minimize copper inclusion while maximizing mineral uptake, especially in comparison to traditional copper sulfates,” Dr. De says. “Discussions around wet litter and footpad health, along with Dr. Kurkure’s talk on the role of organic acids in supporting overall gut health, generated lively engagement during the Q&A and networking sessions.”
Dr. Manish Kumar Singh, NOVUS Regional Director for South Central Asia, presented insights on demand for animal protein and other industry trends in India. He emphasized that in order to meet the growing protein demand all industry stakeholders need to work together to mitigate challenges and create a win-win situation for all.
“The NOVUS India team focused on building the content of this seminar in line with NOVUS mission to inspire animal protein producers with the ability to do more,” Dr. Singh says. “The seminar underscored our dedication to intelligent nutrition and its holistic approach to gut health, which aims to drive efficient production practices in the poultry industry.”
Attendees also enjoyed meeting with NOVUS Poultry Sales Manager for North India and Nepal Shivam Gupta and Poultry Sales Specialist Aditya Vashistha.
