Has the United States become a dangerous place to live in?
The reason is even the former President of the United States being attacked. Very interesting to note that of all the major US media reporters – nobody mentioned the attack on Donald Trump. They just mention terms like the meeting ended shortly Trump was taken away for safety, etc. In a lighter vein imagine any minor event in India, the Western media would have splashed over in all major headlines and would be sensational news. Is it fair for India to do the same – just to give the taste of their pudding?
A large democracy, where for 300 million people there are 400 licensed guns and weapons, and an ironic culture, where they expect peace with guns, whereas other countries are more peaceful without guns. The daring policy of the Modi government to visit President Putin sends a strong message to the West and the rest of the world. The United States assumes that for India to be close to the USA it should keep its distance from Russia – but this is not happening. India is clear in its approach to independent policies without pleasing one at the cost of another. India is in favor of peace through dialogue and talks against the West, which is fueling the war by supplying arms and ammunition to Ukraine!
The United States is a very large producer of maize and soy that can afford the production of ethanol. India’s ambition to produce ethanol from corn and grains seems to be an ambitious priority. The production and consumption in India are delicately balanced, and to divert to ethanol production is destroying the delicate balance.
The soaring prices are affecting the availability of animal feed production causing losses to farmers. On the other hand, the ethanol producers are also complaining about their assured material cost, which is affecting their production plans now India ends up, looking into imports of Corn. It appears the entire plan has gone for a toss. Has India overstepped in its ambition of ethanol production without having consistent and assured large supplies that go into ethanol production?
Looking to Ethanol energy at the cost of Feed/ Food Energy may be a lopsided approach. Food safety cannot be compromised at any cost. We are at a crossroads where it is difficult to choose between one or the other. Clarity in policies is a must. Poultry Farmers’ interests must remain supreme.
In a democracy, minimum education is a must for people to be aware of the power of their vote. Some consider voting to the likeness of getting a discount in a mall or a supermarket, but forget that it can influence their future and the future of their children. Some political parties are legitimizing bribery by promising free income under various schemes as a means to collect votes.
It is an unfortunate development that globally certain communities or countries are being singled out as being unwelcome. Immigrants are being targeted. There has to be a change in approach from both sides on humanitarian grounds to resolve this.
