Central Government took an important decision to import soya meal in the interest of Livestock farmers!

The unnecessarily high prices of soya have made the entire poultry, aqua (fish and shrimp), and dairy farmers upset, The livestock industry was also facing this problem as soya meal is the most important source of protein in the livestock feed. And the unavailability of soya due to rising prices had made the condition of all the farmers miserable.

Noticing the problems of Livestock farmers, Mr. Gulrez Alam, Secretary All India Poultry Breeders Association and Director, IB Group and Ashish Gupta, Executive Member All India Poultry Breeders Association and MD Sampoorna Feeds, Ricky Thapar, VP ABIS Exports, IB Group, and Vijay Sardana, Agriculture Expert and Advocate Delhi High Court worked tirelessly for fruitful discussion with Ministers and Central Government for allowing GM Soya meal Import.

AIPBA along with CLFMA (Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association), Fish Feed Millers Association, Shrimp Feed Millers Association, Sea Food Processors Association, Sea Food Association of India, PFI (Poultry Federation of India) All the organizations step forward to put farmer’s issues in front of the Government.

The positive results of the meetings held with the government came in the interest of the farmers and the import of soybean meal was approved.

It will be imported under Chapter 23 of the Customs Rules. under HSN code 23040020/30 Accordingly, the duty will be imposed.   The seller has to declare that “the consignment of soy meal is for animal feed purpose and not for food”   For importing CHA a declaration is made by the importer that “the consignment is used for animal feed and not for human food”.
