Roquette in India, a fully owned subsidiary of Roquette Frères in France, recently conducted an interactive seminar in Ludhiana, Punjab, on September 25 addressing the needs of animal feed millers. Most of the leading top feed millers in Punjab and Himachal attended, with many other already procuring Roquette’s animal nutrition products for several decades. Consultant and nutritionist professionals also attended.

Ashwin Kapadi, Vice President and Head of Commercial for Roquette in India, and Dr. Pardeep Sharma, Sales Manager for Animal Nutrition at Roquette, shared insights with the audience on Roquette’s strong footprint in India through their state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities spread across four states.
Roquette is a trusted partner committed to providing innovative solutions that meet the needs of its customers for the animal nutrition market.
The offerings include the following:
- Plant-based solutions that deliver efficient and effective recipes.
- Functional and nutritional ingredients that enhance the quality and value of feed products.
- Technical, analytical, marketing, regulatory, and logistics expertise to support the customer’s business at every stage.

Roquette supports the industry in India with four key animal nutrition products.
First is COFEED® maize fiber which is a high-quality blend of maize fiber enriched with soluble nutrients harvested from the process. Cofeed is high-quality fibre that enriches cattle and chicken diets, and helps improve gut health while also improving productivity. High-quality fibre helps maintain a better environment of the rumen, and thus better digestibility of feed for dairy cows. This helps maintain optimum dry matter intake and thus helps boost better productivity and improve milk constituents. Cofeed outperforms contemporary fibre raw material due to its excellent fibre quality (less acid detergent fiber [ADF] and lignin).
COLTEN® maize gluten (60% protein), another product by Roquette, is a high-quality protein used extensively in poultry feeds for premium quality protein with the highest intestinal digestibility and excellent amino acid profile. The xanthophylls help maintain better yolk colour, better shank colour and better carcass quality. The benefits of maize gluten for dairy animals are manifold as this is the only raw material with the highest rumen undegradable proteins (RUDP). Maize gluten provides more than 70% RUDP of total protein. High milking animals essentially need RUDP to express its full potential of milk production. Gluten provides highly digestible RUDP and is also rich in the critical amino acid methionine.
Roquette also produces maize germ, which is rich in edible oils (45-50% oil, less than 3% FFA). Oil is used for human consumption and is highly suitable for animal feeds as well. In addition, maize germ is a rich source of proteins and digestible carbohydrates that make it excellent raw material for ruminant feeding.
Another Roquette product available for animal nutrition is corn steep liquor (CSL). It is essentially harvested from the steeping process and is a rich and highly economical nutrient bundle for animal feeding. Being rich in proteins, CSL is ideal for all kinds of livestock from dairy animals to poultry and aquaculture. The lactic acids present in CSL also help preserve better gut health.
While the benefits of these four Roquette products are not unknown to all feed millers, the stringent quality for the manufacturing process at Roquette ensures that the feed industry gets the best product available for a consistent and good quality output.
During the seminar, the feed millers shared their positive experiences of using Roquette products with the new feed millers who are in the process of expanding in this segment.
In addition to the animal nutrition business, the Roquette team also shared its impressive life+nature sustainable development program’s ambition; one of its goals is to reduce the Roquette group’s CO2 emissions by 25% by 2030 compared to 2021, as validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The team also shared its vast plant-based offering in the food and industrial segments locally manufactured in India like starches, liquid glucose, maltodextrin and dextrose monohydrate to name a few, as well as their imported range of products aimed at improving taste, texture and mouthfeel while adding health options such as improving gut health and sugar management. Roquette’s contribution to the Indian food industry and animal nutrition industry is helping customers manufacture world-class products for their end users resulting in the overall betterment of society.
Based on the customers’ demand, Roquette will be conducting similar interactive learning events across key markets in India.
