A Natural Marine Mineral Solution for Stronger Shells and Longer-Laying Flocks
The Alivira team unveils Celtimin F at the company’s Mumbai office.
Alivira Animal Health Limited has officially launched Celtimin F, a natural marine-mineral feed additive developed to improve eggshell strength, extend the laying period and support overall flock health in layers and breeders. The launch was marked with an internal celebration at Alivira’s Mumbai office, where senior leaders and the nutrition team gathered to unveil the product alongside its first 25 kg commercial bag.

A Natural Answer to an Age-Old Challenge
Eggshell quality and calcium metabolism remain persistent challenges for layer farms, particularly as hens age and their ability to absorb calcium declines. Celtimin F addresses this with a 100% natural marine mineral complex derived from Lithothamnium calcareum, a calcareous red seaweed harvested under licence off the coast of Iceland and processed by Celtic Sea Minerals in County Cork, Ireland a heritage the brand describes as “pioneering marine minerals since 1992.”
Unlike conventional limestone-based calcium sources, which dissolve rapidly and can flood the gut with more calcium than a hen can absorb at once, Celtimin’s unique triple-layer structure an outer calcified layer, a polysaccharide hydrogel, and an inner calcified core releases calcium in stages. This gives hens fast initial availability after feeding, followed by a sustained release through the day and overnight, precisely when shell formation is most actively in process.
Backed by Research and Field Trials
The product’s benefits are supported by trial data referenced in Alivira’s technical literature:
- In a 448-hen commercial trial using Hy-Line Brown genetics, low doses of the marine mineral complex increased first-grade (saleable) eggs by up to 1.3% and improved shell breaking strength by 5–8%.
- Research published by Demehin, Higgins, Bouwhuis, and O’Connell (2026) in Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology found that replacing limestone with the marine mineral complex improved digestible phytate-phosphorus release by 17–26%, pointing to reduced reliance on inorganic phosphorus supplementation.
- Commercial trials in the Philippines showed higher blood and bone calcium levels and greater eggshell thickness in birds fed 0.3% Celtimin compared to controls.
- A UK commercial trial (2022) recorded improved laying percentage in older flocks (82–88 weeks) versus the control group.
Beyond shell quality, the product is positioned to support bone integrity and joint health, reduce lameness and cage layer fatigue and improve litter quality through fewer dirty eggs benefits attributed to its 72 trace minerals, including calcium, magnesium and strontium.
With this launch, Alivira Animal Health in partnership with Celtic Sea Minerals adds a science-backed, sustainably sourced tool to its animal health portfolio aimed at helping poultry producers get more first-grade eggs, stronger shells and longer-performing flocks from a single natural ingredient.
