INFAH Honours Dr. Raghuvir Krishnarao Trifale with INFAH Lifetime Award for Lifetime Contribution to Animal Health

The Indian Federation of Animal Health Companies (INFAH) has honoured Dr. Raghuvir Krishnarao Trifale, a distinguished veterinary professional and veteran of the animal health industry, with the prestigious INFAH Award in recognition of his exemplary contributions to veterinary healthcare, animal health, feed industry innovation, business development, professional advancement and social service.

With a career spanning more than five decades, Dr. Trifale has made significant contributions to the animal health and livestock sectors through his diverse experience across veterinary practice, pharmaceutical marketing, feed industry innovation, business development and professional associations.

From Veterinary Service to Animal Health Industry

A graduate in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) from Nagpur Veterinary College, under Punjabrao Agricultural University, Akola, Dr. Trifale began his professional journey in 1971 as a Veterinary Officer with the Government of Maharashtra.

His early years of service in rural and remote regions of Maharashtra provided him with valuable grassroots experience in animal healthcare delivery and farmer outreach. This exposure enabled him to develop a deep understanding of livestock production systems, rural livelihoods and the practical challenges faced by farmers.

In 1977, Dr. Trifale joined the Glaxo Animal Health Division as its first Veterinary Representative, headquartered in Nagpur. Through outstanding field performance, professional commitment and his ability to establish products in a challenging market, he earned the prestigious Star Award, marking the beginning of a successful career in the animal health industry.

Expanding Veterinary Business Across Maharashtra and Beyond

From 1981 to 1995, Dr. Trifale served Cadila Veterinary in a number of leadership capacities, working from locations including Nagpur, Hyderabad and Pune. During this period, he played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s veterinary business across Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, significantly strengthening market presence and customer confidence.

Following the restructuring of Cadila, he took on the position of Marketing Manager at Cadila Pharma, where he successfully contributed to the launch of new products, strengthened established brands and developed a high-performing marketing and field team. His efforts contributed meaningfully to the company’s continued growth.

Driving Innovation in the Feed Industry

One of the defining milestones of Dr. Trifale’s career came during his tenure as Marketing Head at Jubilant Organosys from 1997 to 2004.

Demonstrating considerable foresight and innovation, he led the commissioning of India’s pioneering Choline Chloride 60% Cereal Base Plant and actively championed the adoption of cereal-based choline chloride technology. This initiative contributed to the industry’s transition from conventional silica-based formulations towards newer cereal-based formulations.

Through technical seminars, industry interactions and extensive stakeholder engagement, Dr. Trifale helped accelerate the acceptance of this transformative technology across the feed and livestock sectors.

Continuing His Contribution to Agribusiness

Even after his corporate leadership assignments, Dr. Trifale continued to contribute actively to agribusiness and entrepreneurship.

From 2007 to 2016, through Exotic Biosolutions (earlier Exotic Mushrooms), he played a significant role in developing new customer networks, expanding business opportunities and contributing to the growth and diversification of the enterprise.

His efforts reflected the same commitment to innovation, relationship-building and market development that had characterised his career in the animal health industry.

Commitment to the Veterinary Profession

A committed supporter of the veterinary fraternity, Dr. Trifale also served as an active member of the Association of Veterinarians from Industry (AVI) from 2008 to 2016.

During his association with the organisation, he contributed to strengthening its activities through technical seminars, professional interactions and initiatives that recognised and celebrated the achievements of veterans of the veterinary industry.

Service Beyond Professional Achievement

Dr. Trifale’s contribution extends beyond his professional accomplishments. He has remained deeply committed to social causes and community service.

He has actively supported community initiatives and organ donation awareness programmes under the guidance of the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre, Mumbai. He has also pledged to be an organ donor, reflecting his commitment to service and humanity.

A Mentor and Inspiration

Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Trifale has earned respect as a mentor and source of inspiration for colleagues across generations. He has acknowledged the guidance and encouragement of Dr. S. S. Chousalkar, whose support inspired him to enter the animal health industry and played an important role in shaping his professional career.

His journey reflects the evolution of India’s animal health industry over more than five decades—from grassroots veterinary services and pharmaceutical marketing to feed technology, business development and industry leadership.
