
The 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Broiler Breeders Association North (BBAN) was successfully organized on 27–28 February 2026 at Anantum Gateway Resort, Jim Corbett, Uttarakhand, bringing together leading poultry breeders, industry stakeholders, and policymakers from across North India. The two-day event witnessed active participation from farmers, hatchery owners, allied industry representatives, and experts, making it a significant platform to discuss the growth and future direction of the broiler breeding sector in the region.



The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, led by Mr. Mohit Malik, President – BBAN, along with distinguished dignitaries including Mr. Gurminder Bisla (Ex-President, BBAN), Mr. Pala Ram Rathi (Managing Director, Shakti Group), Mr. Balraj Ghanghas (Former President, BBAN), Mr. Ranpal Dhanda (President, Poultry Federation of India), Mr. Uday Singh Bayas (President, IPEMA / Poultry India), Mr. S. S. Lakra (Venky India Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Krishan Gawaria (BBAN Rajasthan State President).




Day One Highlights
The session began with a welcome address by Mr. Ravi Sabharwal, Chairman, BBAN, who highlighted the association’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the broiler breeding industry in North India. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and thanked members and delegates for their continued support and participation.






Mr. Gurminder Bisla, Ex-President, BBAN, informed the gathering that the AGM would present the association’s key achievements from the past year along with its strategic roadmap and future plans for the industry.










Chief Guest Mr. Pala Ram Rathi, Managing Director of Shakti Group, acknowledged the pivotal role played by BBAN in maintaining stability in broiler prices and strengthening the broiler breeder network in the northern region. He expressed confidence in the association’s continued success and contribution to the poultry sector.
Mr. Balraj Ghanghas, Former President, BBAN, emphasised the importance of promoting a single-window selling system among farmers to improve market efficiency and transparency. He also encouraged members to work towards achieving the 70-week production target, as decided by the association.
Mr. Ranpal Dhanda, President, Poultry Federation of India (PFI), congratulated the BBAN team for its impactful initiatives, particularly the promotion of the single-window system. He also informed the audience about the upcoming VIV Select India 2026, scheduled from 22–24 April 2026 at Yashobhoomi Expo Centre, New Delhi, and invited industry members to participate in the event.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Uday Singh Bayas, President – IPEMA / Poultry India, highlighted the remarkable growth of the poultry sector in North India. He noted that states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Punjab have emerged as major contributors to India’s poultry production ecosystem. He emphasized that increasing demand for affordable protein, adoption of modern farm technologies, improved genetics, enhanced feed efficiency, and strong breeder networks have collectively driven the region’s rapid expansion. He further stressed the importance of collaboration among breeders, integrators, equipment manufacturers, feed companies, pharmaceutical firms, and policymakers to ensure sustainable industry growth.
Mr. S. S. Lakra from Venky India Pvt. Ltd. stated that India has emerged as the 4th largest chicken meat producer and the 2nd largest egg producer globally, and credited industry organizations like BBAN for their role in strengthening the poultry sector and contributing to national nutrition security.
The first day also featured technical and business presentations from several industry sponsors, including Lexington, Pollex Equipments, Dhirendera Soya, Luxmi Pharma, Vets Pharma, Ventri Biologicals, Kissan Poultry, Shiv Soya, Anil Poultry (Safidon), Dev Enterprises (Karnal), Agarwal Industries Pvt. Ltd. (Hyderabad), Rathi Group (Safidon), and Glanco Exports. The day concluded with a memento distribution ceremony honouring contributors and partners.
Day Two Highlights






The second day of the AGM began with the welcome of Chief Guest Mr. Gulab Singh Saini, Chairman – Asian Kabaddi Federation, and Sh. Karmvir Saini, Information Commissioner, by Mr. Mohit Malik, President, BBAN, who presented them with mementos and bouquets as a mark of respect.
In his address, Mr. Mohit Malik highlighted several key demands of the poultry sector and urged the government to support the industry through progressive policies. Among the major demands raised were:
- Granting agriculture status to the poultry sector in Haryana, similar to Maharashtra, and excluding poultry farms from the pollution category.
- Removing market fees on poultry feed grains brought from other states, which increases production costs for Haryana’s poultry feed millers.
- Providing interest subsidy on loans and capital subsidy, similar to schemes available in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
- Promoting green energy initiatives in poultry farms by offering subsidies for biogas plants and solar energy installations in poultry units.









Responding to the association, Mr. Gulab Singh Saini congratulated the BBAN leadership and members for their unity and contributions toward addressing India’s protein deficiency by producing affordable poultry products. He emphasized that farmers must adopt modern techniques to improve productivity and assured that the government remains committed to supporting agricultural communities. Drawing from his own experience as a former farmer, he encouraged the industry to work collectively for national growth.
Mr. Saini also appealed to the association to support Kabaddi development initiatives, suggesting that BBAN could sponsor local or national Kabaddi championships to channelize youth energy and promote sports development.
Sh. Karmvir Saini, Information Commissioner, appreciated the growth of the poultry sector, noting that hatcheries and poultry businesses are generating significant employment opportunities in rural areas. He acknowledged the demands raised by the association and assured that discussions would be initiated with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, to explore possible policy support for the sector. He also highlighted that the government is already providing 25–50% subsidies for various plant installations and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and rural enterprises.
The 26th AGM of BBAN concluded with strong industry participation, meaningful dialogue, and renewed commitment toward strengthening the poultry breeding sector in North India. The event reaffirmed the association’s role as a key platform for collaboration among farmers, industry leaders, and policymakers to address challenges and drive sustainable growth in the poultry industry.
